What is the difference between simple, advanced and qualified signatures?

They are the three levels of the European eIDAS regulation. An advanced signature is uniquely linked to the signatory and capable of identifying them; a qualified signature is also based on a qualified certificate and has the legal effect of a handwritten signature.

What is an electronic seal for?

It is the electronic equivalent of an organisation’s stamp: it guarantees that a document really comes from you and has not changed since, without anyone having to sign it.
